In December, Nike made a wrong-headed decision to part ways with Kyrie Irving to end their partnership. Since that point, the future outlook for Irving’s footwear future has remained cloudly, with speculation abound linking Irving to several brands. in June the speculation was renewed when images of Irving surfaced wearing a pair of then-unknown Anta sneakers. We now know the mystery sneaker, which is the Anta Shock Wave Pro 5, but there is still no indication of an official deal with Kyrie has been inked.

Back in October of 2018 it was reported that Boston Celtics forward Gordon Hayward had signed a deal with Chinese footwear brand ANTA. A clause in Hayward’s deal with Nike allowed the Swoosh to match any offer he received. They opted not match the ANTA offer and he joined the roster of the brand’s athletes.
