Fort Valley City State was able to take an early lead and then largely control the Johnson C. Smith offense in a 23-13 win in the inaugural Florida Beach Bowl.  The Fort Valley offense got right to work, marching 75 yards in 12 plays on the game’s opening drive that saw two 4th down conversions and ended on Brandon Marshall’s 2-yard plunge that put the Wildcats up 7-0.  A safety on a Johnson C. Huggins’ list includes 56 HBCU football players from across the country including Townsel and Copeland from Hampton. Townsel was second in the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) this season in tackles with 104. A second-team All-CAA pick, Townsel led the Pirates in tackles in both 2022 and 2023.…

FAMU crushes Prairie View 35-14 to claim SWAC Championship

Unfazed by multiple weather delays, the Rattlers of Florida A&M were able to effectively control the clock and run the football on the way to claiming their first SWAC Championship with a 35-14 victory over Prarie View.  On just Prairie View’s fifth snap of the contest, a Trazon Connely pass was tipped and then intercepted by Javan Morgan and returned to the FAMU 40.
