Fort Valley wins rainy inaugural Florida Beach Bowl 23-13 over Johnson C. Smith

Fort Valley City State was able to take an early lead and then largely control the Johnson C. Hampton’s Qwashin Townsel and Ramon Copeland named to 2023 All-Draft HBCU Team

title image via Hampton Athletics Courtesy of Hampton University Athletics Hampton linebacker Qwahsin Townsel and slot/return specialist Romon Copeland have been named to the 2023 All-Draft HBCU Team, according to Gerald Huggins Jr., lead scout for Draft HBCU Players and a scouting assistant for the Shrine Bowl. Huggins’ list includes 56 HBCU football players from across the country including Townsel and Copeland from Hampton. Townsel was second in the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) this season in tackles with 104. A second-team All-CAA pick, Townsel led the Pirates in tackles in both 2022 and 2023.…

FAMU crushes Prairie View 35-14 to claim SWAC Championship

Unfazed by multiple weather delays, the Rattlers of Florida A&M were able to effectively control the clock and run the football on the way to claiming their first SWAC Championship with a 35-14 victory over Prarie View.  On just Prairie View’s fifth snap of the contest, a Trazon Connely pass was tipped and then intercepted by Javan Morgan and returned to the FAMU 40.
