Via Jessica Golden of CNBC LeBron James is teaming up with Upper Deck, to sell his game-worn sneakers online. It’s part of an effort to raise money for the I Promise School, a public elementary school in Akron, Ohio. A single shoe costs between $15,000 and $30,000 on Upper Deck’s site where there are currently 97 shoes available to buy. 114 shoes were made available when the initiative first launched two years ago, but now people can buy the remaining sneakers online. Having previously assisted with the effort against COVID-19 by repurposing footwear resources to produce PPE, Nike ,in partnership with non-profit Good360, donated 30,000 pair of the Zoom Pulse to hospitals and health care systems in Chicago, Los Angeles, Memphis, and New York City. Teams from Nike’s innovation, manufacturing and product have been working with health care pros from Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) to produce Product Protective Equipment in the form of full-face shields and powered air-purifying respirator (PAPR) lenses to provide to health care workers.
