Following the initial emerging of word of Colin Kaepernick’s deal with Nike, Darren Rovell of ESPN reported there were no plans to produce a signature for him nor an apparel line.
Not so fast, according to Charles Robinson of Yahoo! Sports. He refutes the earlier Rovell tweet saying a sneaker and apparel line is coming.
I have tremendous professional respect for Darren but we’re going to step on each other here. I’ve been told by multiple sources there is absolutely a contract commitment by @nike for a signature shoe and “Kaepernick 7” line of apparel. And I’m reporting that, not speculating it. https://t.co/kSXq50SbvI

Not surprisingly, the del with Kaepernick has lead to some backlash against Nike.

After the news of the Kaepernick deal broke, the hashtag “Nike Boycott” trended on Twitter and according to the report of Emma Thomasson and Utah Sampath Kumar of Reuters, Nike shares dropped 3% during early trading Tuesday.
Kaepernick is in the midst of an ongoing collusion case against the NFL.
