Report: Phoenix Suns will buyout Tyson Chandler, expected to sign with Lakers

According to The New York Times’ Marc Stein, the Phoenix Suns will buyout center Tyson Chandler, making him a free agent. Should he be claimed on waivers, Chandler would be owed $13.6 million this year. Left unclaimed, he becomes eligible to sign with any team he chooses.

The Los Angeles Lakers are expected to sign Chandler as soon as he clears waivers, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

The 2011-12 Defensive Player of the Year will provide depth but can help to sure up defense and rebounding on the interiors, both areas the Lakers have been sorely lacking in as they ranking 21st and 18th respectively in each area.^
