Stupid Things People Do For Sneakers: DC firefighter charged with assault and armed robbery

Normally in our tales of when idiocy meets sneakers the subjects are usually wayward youths, however for this edition of Stupid Things People Do For Sneakers, the beacon of stupidity is actually a respected public servant.

Investigators say that District of Columbia firefighter Davon Alfred Moore made arrangements to meet a seller through the OfferUp app to purchase a pair of $700 Christian Louboutin Orlato Holographic sneakers. At the December 20th meeting, a disagreement between the two ended in Moore brandishing a handgun and absconding with the sneakers.

Detectives identified Moore as the perpetrator and he was arrested on Christmas Eve; he posted a $5,000 two days later and was released.

According to Montgomery County police, the firefighter now faces charges of armed robbery, robbery, first-degree assault in the commission of a felony and theft between $100 and $1,500.

District of Columbia fire official stated the four-year veteran was on leave pending the results of the pending criminal case.
