Suns break off Head Coach Earl Watson

After getting off to an 0-3 start, including a 48-point beatdown in their opener at the hands of the Portland Trailblazers, the Phoenix Suns have fired Earl Watson, according to Adrian Wojnarowski.

Watson took over after Jeff Hornacek was shown the door during the 2015-16 season. He proceeded to post a 9-24 record over the final 33 games that season but that didn’t deter the Suns from signing Watson to a three-year contract. Watson was just 33-85 over the course of his time as the head man in Phoenix.

Associate coach Jay Triano is expected fill in as the interim head coach.
