A Phoenix Arizona non-profit , Cloud Covered Streets ,gave out 210 pairs of brand new sneakers to those in need this week. Since August the organisation has taken a mobile laundry shower and laundry built by their executive director Robert Thornton around the area three times per week. Via Jessica Golden of CNBC LeBron James is teaming up with Upper Deck, to sell his game-worn sneakers online. It’s part of an effort to raise money for the I Promise School, a public elementary school in Akron, Ohio. A single shoe costs between $15,000 and $30,000 on Upper Deck’s site where there are currently 97 shoes available to buy. 114 shoes were made available when the initiative first launched two years ago, but now people can buy the remaining sneakers online. On October 1, the Albany State University Athletics Department and the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) teamed up with SOles4Souls on a shoe drive. The drive seeks new and gently used shoes of all sizes and styles. The shoes are processed and distributed by Soles4Souls for those in need.
