Albany State gets off schneid with 26-14 win over West Georgia

The Albany State Golden Rams headed to Carrollton, GA to take on the University of West Georgia Wolves and left town with their first win of the season, 26-14. West Georgia took an early 7-0 lead on Chauncey Williams’ two-yard touchdown run. Albany State responded on their next drive as Kelias Williams found Michael Green on a 20-yard touchdown pass to tie the game at 7-7. From FAMU Sports Information: TALLAHASSEE, Fla. | The Florida A&M University football team trailed early in the fourth quarter, but a Ryan Stanley 17-yard touchdown pass to Xavier Smith capped the rally as the Rattlers defeated Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) foe Southern, 27-21, in front of a packed house at Bragg Memorial Stadium on Saturday. Virginia State smacks around Johnson C. Smith 34-7

Virginia State notched its second win of the season in a 34-7 rout of Johnson C. Smith. The Trojans’ offense did need much time to get to work, taking a 7-0 lead on Jevon LaPierre’s five-yard touchdown run with 12:25 to go in the opening period. A little less than four minutes later, Virginia State would increase their advantage to 14-0 when Demetrius Strickland scored on a fifteen-yard run with 8:33 left in the opening period.
