2020 Souther Heritage Classic Canceled


Though sports are slowly beginning to resume, albeit with no fans in attendance, when college football reconvenes, the Southern Heritage Classic will not be amongst the games played. On Wednesday, the management of the game announced the cancellation of the annual event.

The Southern Heritage Classic evolved out of alternating home-and-home matchups between Jackson State University and Tennessee State University. The first game was played in 1990 at the Liberty Town In Memphis, TN and it has resided there ever since. Tennessee State has a 17-12 record in the SHC, with Jackson State compiling a 10-17 record, Grambling State and Mississippi Valley State University made appearances in 1993 and 1991 respectively and are hold 1-0 records.

The 2020 game will mark only the second time the game has had to be called off. The 2018 clash had be called off due to lightning.
