Virgin’s First Class Sneakers are a techie’s dream come true

Virgin America, in a joint effort with advertising agency Eleven Inc and SearchnDesign, a Milan based design firm, has put a new spin on high tech footwear. The groundbreaking is not in the vein of new upper material or cushioning system but in the bells and whistles the shoe features, which includes built in Wi-Fi, a USB port, mood lighting and a video display on the tongue(yes, you read that right). None of the aforementioned features lend themselves to performance, so if you are looking for a sneaker to help you perform at your best, the First Class Shoe is not the shoe for you.

The construction and materials are top notch. The First Class is handcrafted in Italy and features a white leather upper; rather than laces, has a stainless steel airplane seat belt buckle; an embossed Virgin logo and a rubber outsole.

Unfortunately if you want a pair these you really have your work cut out for you as these are 1/1’s. The only way to get this pair is to head over to eBay between now and October 23 and bid on the auction. Proceeds from the auction will go to Soles4Souls, a charity who collects and distributes shoes and clothes to help fight poverty.
