Kyrie Irving buys home for George Floyd’s family

Kyrie Irving gets a lot of flack for things he says and does, which has opened himself to be a target to vile comments from fans and draw the ire and mockery of many in the sports media. Regardless of personal feelings about Irving what is undeniable is that the brother puts his money where his mouth is when it comes to making difference in the lives of others. It seems that because he marches to the beat of his own drum, and does it without a great deal of fanfare his actions do not the garner the attention they deserve.

The state sponsored killing of George Floyd sparked national and international protest of police brutality and anti-black racism. Stephen Jackson revealed that Irving recently purchased a home for George Floyd’s family.

During an interview on Etan Thomas’ podcast (“The Rematch”), former NBA player Stephen Jackson revealed that Brooklyn Nets guard Kyrie Irving recently bought a home for George Floyd’s family.

Jackson and Floyd were close friends, and Jackson used his platform to raise awareness about Floyd’s murder and fight for justice. Jackson is helping raise Floyd’s daughter, Gianna.

When asked how Gianna is doing these days, Jackson provided an update and thanked some of his celebrity friends who have shown support.

“She’s getting so much love — not just from us, but from people all around the world who are showing support,” Jackson said. “I’m just continuing to do what I said I was going to do; I said I was going to be my brother’s keeper and take care of his daughter and make sure that her next days are her best days. A lot of my friends [have helped]. Kyrie Irving bought them a house. Lil Wayne’s manager bought them a Mercedes Benz. Barbra Streisand gave them stock in Disney.

“I think God has definitely blessed her. I think she’s doing the best she’s ever done; she’s happy. We’re just waiting for this trial to get out of the way, so she doesn’t have to keep reliving the situation and she can go about living her life.”
