LORMAN, Miss. – Mississippi Valley State will face Alcorn State for its first Southwestern Athletic Conference game of the season. Kick-off is set for 6:00 p.m. at Spinks-Casem Stadium.

Last week Alcorn State scored a touchdown with 40 seconds left in regulation to edge Prairie View A&M 45-41.

The Braves trailed 41-38 when they started at their own 35. Alcorn marched down the field, converted a 4th-and-4 at the PVAMU 36, and went on to tally the game-winner on a three-yard pass to sophomore Tim McNair.

Felix Harper threw for 280 yards and two touchdowns targeting LeCharles Pringle who submitted a career day with 144 yards and a touchdown. On the defensive end, Solomon Muhammad wrapped-up a career-high 18 tackles. Juwan Taylor was also in double-figures with 11 tackles. Qwynnterrio Cole tallied two interceptions.

Mississippi Valley State controlled the pace of play despite its 22-6 loss against Bethune-Cookman last week at home.

Dejerric Bryant threw for 141 yards, completed more than half his passes and added another 23 yards on the ground. John’Derrick Smith had his best game and a new career mark with 79 yards on the ground and 20 through receptions. Jarius Clayton and Sedevyn Gray pulled in five receptions each. The Delta Devil defense conceded in total 281 yards to the Wildcat running game.

Alcorn is going for its seventh straight win over Mississippi Valley State and leads the all-time series 45-15-1. Alcorn has outscored MVSU 318-78 over the last six games in the in-state rivalry.
