Adelaide 36ers re-signs Jacob Wiley

From nbl.com.au :

The Adelaide 36ers have locked in star forward Jacob Wiley, re-signing the import for the 2019-20 NBL season.

Wiley joined the 36ers during the off-season after spending last season as a two-way player with the Brooklyn Nets, making his NBA debut after being called up from the Long Island Nets, much like former Adelaide star Mitch Creek did recently.

Since arriving in the NBL, Wiley has impressed both statistically and when it comes to highlights featuring regularly in the Top 10 Plays each week.

The 24-year-old Wiley said is thrilled to re-sign with the Sixers for a second season.

“It feels amazing to re-sign. I felt a real connection with the community and fans. Obviously, the basketball has been great, but it’s been all those other little things, having a family and having my kids really like it here, it’s just all come together,” Wiley said.

The Californian believes Adelaide is the perfect place to continue to develop his basketball.

“I just like the pace of Adelaide. It’s quiet and you can focus on your craft and focus on trying to get better. There’s just no distractions here,” Wiley said.

Through 26 games with Adelaide in NBL19, Wiley is averaging 12.6 points and 5.2 rebounds per content with a season-high 30-points against Cairns in late November bringing energy every time he hits the floor.

“I think we all feed off the energy. I’m an energy player. If I make a good play or get hyped up, the crowd really seems to feed off that and we feed off each other. I’ve really liked the support we’ve gotten this season.”

With just one game of the regular season remaining and a win essential against the Wildcats, Wiley has his eyes firmly placed on helping his team into the finals.

“Winning is everything, literally everything. It’s our last game of the regular season, a must-win game in a hostile environment in Perth. So, we’re going to be amped for this game.”

Adelaide 36ers owner, Grant Kelley, is pleased to have secured Wiley at the club for another season.

“We are thrilled Jacob is returning to the 36ers next season. To already have over half the squad locked in for the 2019-20 season at this point of the year is a real triumph.

“Jacob brings such excitement and passion to the court and has continued to grow and excel as not only a player, but as a leader both on and off the court,” Kelley said.

Wiley joins Daniel Johnson, Ramone Moore, Anthony Drmic, Harry Froling and Jack McVeigh, who are already contracted by Adelaide for the 2019-20 NBL season.
