Albany State defeats Clark Atlanta 62-55

ATLANTA, Ga. | Albany State took on Clark Atlanta on Saturday afternoon with second place in the SIAC East Division on the line.

The Golden Rams carried a four point lead into halftime and maintained the lead for the first eight minutes of the second half until Clark Atlanta used a 7-0 run to capture their first lead of the game with 11:49 left in the contest.

The two teams swapped leads over the next six minutes of game time before Napoleon Harris made a layup with 3:58 remaining to recapture the lead. 

Jalen Mitchell netted a pair of free throws with 5:06 to go in the game to make the score 55-51 in favor of the Panthers. It would be the last points CAU scored as ASU ended the game on an 11-0 run to take the game, 62-55.

Harris paced Albany State (7-12, 6-3) with 11 points and a season-high 17 rebounds. Mario Young finished with 17 points and Tyrell Williams added 12 points.

Mitchell finished with 19 points for Clark Atlanta (8-9, 5-5).

The win gives Albany State sole possession of second place in the SIAC East Division.

The Golden Rams will take on the current leader in the SIAC East Division, Morehouse College, on Monday night, January 21st, in Atlanta. Game time is set for 7:00 pm.
