Albany State dominant at Alice Coachman Invitational

ALBANY, Ga. (March 30, 2019)– The Albany State University track and field team hosted the 26thAnnual Alice Coachman Invitational today at the Robert Cross Track & Field Complex. 

Albany State University hosted Tallahassee Community College, Voorhees, Paine College, Edward Waters College, Southwest Georgia Track Club and Fort Valley State University. 

On the men’s side, ASU finished first with 198 points. Edward Waters finished second with 100  points followed by Paine  (48) and Voorhees (40) finished in third and fourth place while Fort Valley State (20) rounded out the top-five.

The men grabbed 17 individual winners with Christopher Jackson taking the 100 meter run victory with a time of 10.72. 

Cervantes Jackson grabbed a six (6) first place finish in the 200 meter with a time of 22.24. Jackson also took the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 14.75. He also finished first in the javelin, triple and long jumps. 

Joshua Ajiero  delivered another individual win in the 800 meters with a time of 1:51.28. 

On the women’s side ASU came away with the first place victory with scoring 103 points. Edward Waters finished in second place followed by Paine (69) and Fort Valley State (66) finished in third  and fourth while Tallahassee Community College (20) finished out the top five. 

The Golden Rams grabbed five individual winners in the meet. 

Gabrielle Vincent Khadija Williams brought home the javelin win with securing 34.24m. 

Lauren Wood took the 5000 meter finishing with a time of 21.41.81. 

Albany State will head to Statesboro, Georgia to participate in the Georgia Southern Invite on April 5-6th.
