The Albany State Golden Rams remain unbeaten in SIAC play, spanking the Golden Bears of Miles College 31-3.

Miles got off to a solid start staking the opening kickoff and then proceeding on a 13-play, 55-yard drive that ended with a 33-yard field goal from Jackson Spradlin to put the Golden Bears up 3-0. Miles would enjoy this lead until early in the second quarter Dionte’ Bronneau connected with Joe Shorter on an 18-yard touchdown pass, completing a 7 play, 16 yard drive that put Albany State up 7-3. The golden rams would extend the lead to 14-3 via a Marcuis Fulks one-yard touchdown run that came right before the end of the first half.

In the early portion of the third quarter Albany State’s Javon Wooten’s 31-yard punt return gave the Rams exquisite field position at the Miles 17 yard line. Four plays later, folks would punch it in from one-yard out for his second score of the evening and gave ASU a 21-3 advantage.

The rains’ fourth scoring drive was the Kam Ward show. The freshman running back accounted for all of the yardage a 45-yard scamper and then a 3-yard touchdown run to put Albany State up 28-3.

The day’s scoring was closed out by a Gabriel Ballinas 31-yard field goal to bring the game to its final count of 31-3.

As we stated in our prediction Albany State’s running game would prove to be a hurdle for Miles to overcome and that rang true as the Golden Rams racked up 204 yards on the ground, which outpaced the entire Miles offense that only accounted for 200 yards. It was needed as Dionte’ Bronneau struggled, completing just five of his eighteen pass attempts for 89 yards, a touchdown and an interception. The ASU defense was stingy, limiting the Miles passing game to only 90 yards and only allowing 2.4 yards per rush.

Next week is home coming for the Golden Rams and they will host Edward Waters; Kickoff is scheduled for 2pm EST. For Miles, they will take on the Tigers of Benedict College at home on October 9. Kickoff is set for 4pm CST.
