ASU Men’s Track places third, women twentieth at Emory Invitational

ATLANTA, Ga. (March 23, 2019) – The Albany State University track & field teams finished (20th(women’s ) / 3rd(men’s)) at the Emory Invitational in their fifth competition of the outdoor season. The meet was hosted by Emory University at the Woodruff P.E. Center Track in Atlanta, Georgia.

On the men’s side, ASU finished third with 65.5 points. Tennessee Wesleyan finished first with 78 points followed by Taylor who finished in second and third place while Albany State (65.6) and Hope (54.5) rounded out the top-five.

The men grabbed three individual winners with Christopher Jackson taking the 100 meter run victory with a time of 10.68. 

Cervantes Jackson grabbed a first place finish in the long jump finishing with 7.30m. 

Joshua Ajiero  delivered another individual win in the 800 meters with a time of 1:51.27. 

On the women’s side ASU came away in 20thplace with scoring 17 points. Host Emory University finished in first place followed by Clayton State (70) and West Georgia (60) finished in second and third while Trine (48) and Hope (44) finished out the top five. 


Albany State will next host the Alice Coachman Invitational on March 30thwith events starting at 8:00 a.m.
