Blazers’ Collins out four months after shoulder surgery

The Portland Trail Blazers announced on Tuesday that forward Zach Collins will be out for approximately four months after undergoing a procedure to repair his left labrum.

In a release the Blazers said their young big man will begin a treatment and rehabilitation process and will be re-evaluated in about four months.

Collins suffered a dislocated shoulder in the third quarter of their game against the Dallas Mavericks on October 27. Collins had been averaging nine points and three rebounds in the three games he’d play in prior to his injury.

Portland can ill afford more front court injuries. Jusef Nurkic is still recovering from his broken leg , Pau Gasol is dealing with a foot issue, and though Hassan Whiteside has been playing, he hyperextended his left knee last week against the Thunder.
