Brett Brown will be back as Sixers head coach

In a move that should fall under the “duh” category, the Philadelphia 76ers will retain head coach Brett Brown for next season, per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski from Sixers managing partner Josh Harris.

Saturday, Marc Stein of the New York Times reported that Brown’s future was on shaky outcome ( which in and of itself is complete lunacy) pending the outcome of the 76ers’ second round playoff series against the Toronto Raptors.

Philadelphia would lose in game seven 92-90 when Kawhi Leonard hit an amazing buzzer beater.

If the Sixers want to ascend to the summit of the Eastern Conference, there are obviously moves that will have to be made, but who sits in the lead chair on the bench is not one of them. Granted, Brown is not blameless in Philadelphia’s season ended earlier than expected ( is it Brett Brown’s fault that Ben Simmons will not shoot outside 10 feet or that Joel Embiid was hurt headed into the postseason?) but to sack him at this point would be myopic and point to a larger organizational failure of team leadership.
