Bulls and Arturas Karnisovas finalizing deal for executive spot

The 1990’s were a long time ago but outside of the pre-injury Derrick Rose days, there hasn’t been much for Chicago Bulls fans to hang their collective hats on.

The seventeen years that the John Paxson and Gar Forman braintrust has run the Bulls has been one wrought with frustration for this once proud fan base. Clamors for change in the Chicago front office became as loud as a train horn over the course of this season. The greatest hits of the “GarPax” leadership over the past few years include but not limited to:

  • The firing of Tom Thibadeau
  • The hiring of Fred Hoiberg (without a coaching search)
  • The firing of Fred Hoiberg
  • Removing the interim title from Jim Boylan ( again, without a coaching search)
  • Giving Jim Boylan an extension
  • the signing of Jabari Parker
  • not trading Thaddeus Young before the trade deadline

The winds of change could be could be beginning to sweep through the Bulls organization , as ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Chicago is finalizing a deal to make Denver Nuggets’ general manager Arturas Karnisovas their Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations.

Karnisovas received ringing endorsements from from both Nuggets governor Josh Kroenke and president of basketball operations Tim Connelly about his leadership, organization and ability to structure operations.

Karnisovas will replaces John Paxson, who had been over basketball operations since 2003.
