Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert hospitalized for stroke symptoms

According to the Detroit News’ Nolan Finley and Kim Kozlowski, Cleveland Cavaliers team owner Dan Gilbert was hospitalized today after experiencing the symptoms of a stroke.

Per the National Stroke Association, a stroke occurs “when blood flow to an area of brain is cut off. When this happens, brain cells are deprived of oxygen and begin to die. When brain cells die during a stroke, abilities controlled by that area of the brain such as memory and muscle control are lost.”

A statement issued to the News by Quicken Loans, a company of which Gilbert is a founders, read as follows :

He received immediate medical attention and is currently recovering comfortably. Our collective thoughts and prayers are with Dan for a speedy recovery.”
