Cavis LeVert agrees to 3-year, $52.5 million extension with Nets

Most franchises who added the likes of Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving with a dash of DeAndre Jordan would still have sore shoulders from patting themselves on the back. However the Brooklyn Nets are not resting on those laurels, as they have signed promising young guard Caris LeVert to a 3-year, $52.5 million contract extension, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski .

Signing the deal made a good birthday gift, as he turned 25 Sunday.

Despite being limited by injuries, LeVert averaged a career-high 13.7 points and showed a lot of promise, especially during the stretch that point guard D’Angelo Russell was sidelined.

He showed up in the playoffs, averaging a team-high 21 points a night in the Nets’ first round series against the Philadelphia 76ers.

With the LeVert extension, the Nets have  Kevin DurantKyrie IrvingDeAndre Jordan and Spencer Dinwiddie — signed through the 2021-22 season. The team will have $121 million in committed salary for 2020-21 and could be staring at the luxury tax, particularly if they re-up with Taurean Prince and Joe Harris.
