Celtics defeat Sixers 114-112 to advance to East Finals

Celtics Rookie Jayson Tatum had 25 big points, his seventh straight post season game with at least 20 points, to help push Boston past Philadelphia 114-112 in the decisive game five of their second round playoff series.

It was Tatum’s go-ahead layup with 23 seconds left in the game that put the Celtics up for good. Jalen Brown scored 24 points,, while Terry Rozier, who has been very good in the absence of Kyrie Irving, had 17. Al Horford contributed more steady play with 15 points and 8 rebounds.

In a losing effort Joel Embid 27 points and 12 rebounds; Dario Saric had 27 points and 10 rebounds and Ben Simmons added 18 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists.

The win advances the Celtics to the Eastern Confernce Finals , where they will tangle with the Cleveland Cavaliers for the second straight year.

Game 1 is Sunday at 3:30 EST in Boston.
