CIAA Student-Athlete Spotlight: Bowie State’s Morgana Johnson

From the CIAA:

The CIAA Student-Athlete Spotlight, presented by Academy Sports + Outdoors, continues this week with a feature on Morgana Johnson of Bowie State University. Johnson is a senior softball student-athlete from Baltimore, MD. She majors in early childhood education/special education and maintains a 3.5 grade point average.

Athletic Accomplishments:

Softball – Currently maintains a .965 fielding percentage for her career

Softball – Recorded a career-high .407 batting average during the 2019 season

Softball – A four-year member of the Dean’s List and BSU Athletic Director’s Honor Roll

Something unique most people wouldn’t know about you:

“I love to paint!”

Your goals or plans after finishing school:

“My short term career goal and plan after school is to become a general educator or special education teacher for a couple of years, then pursue my master’s degree. My long term goal is to create a tutoring program for children of all ages.”

Your greatest inspiration:

“My greatest inspiration is my family. My family is what drives me to want to do better. I am the first person in my family to go to college, so I want to lead by example for my siblings and younger cousin.”

What do you love the most about being a student-athlete your school?

“What I love most is being able to travel. Bowie State has allowed me to travel to many places I have never been. It has also allowed me to meet new people, develop life-long friendships, and given me the opportunity to create a sisterhood both on and off the field.”
