Dana Ford takes Missouri State Head Coaching Job

We reported earlier today that Tennessee State men’s basketball Coach Dana Ford was expected to become the new head man at Missouri State University.

It has become official as TSU Director of Athletics Teresa Phillips made the announcement that the move was official.

We’re really happy to have had Dana for the past four years,” Phillips said “He’s improved the program, and we’re grateful for his contribution to the university. We wish him the best and we’re looking forward to finding the next leader of our program who will take us to the next level.

Tennessee State University President Glenda Glover offered these words:

Tennessee State University has a proud history of athletic achievements and has spent the last few years restoring our men’s basketball program to a winning tradition…Coach Dana Glover has informed the university that he has accepted an offer and is leaving TSU. Since his arrival, FOrd energized our fan base with a renewed interest. We wish him and his family success as they move forward in this next chapter of his coaching career. The university will take full advantage of this opportunity to fill vacancy with an individual that will continue to build our men’s basketball program and take it to new heights.

Ford lead the Tigers to a 57-65 record over his four seasons in Nashville, including 52-39 over his last three years. Those 52 wins over that time is one of the best three-year spans in TSU’s D-1 history. He also gave the program only its third 20-win season with the 20-11 record he led the team to in 2015-16.

Tennessee State has indicated that a national search for Ford’s replacement will begin straightaway.
