Eleven Virgina State Athlete-Students recognized as Arthur Ashe,Jr. Scholars

ETTRICK, VA– The Virginia State University Athletics department continues to stay true to their mission of developing academic and athletic champions! 

In line with the Trojans mission, the Arthur Ashe, Jr. Sports Scholars Award, sponsored by The Diverse: Issues In Higher Education magazine, honors undergraduate students who have excelled in the classroom as well as on the athletic field.  In addition to their athletic ability, the students named 2019 Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholars have maintained a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.5, are at least a sophomore academically, and have been active on their campuses or in their communities. In addition to their athletic ability, students named Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholars must exhibit academic excellence as well as community activism.

Virginia State University had 11 student-athletes that were selected as Arthur Ashe, Jr. Sports Scholars. Listed below are the student-athletes that were selected.
