Ex-Gators QB Treon Harris powers Tennessee State to win over Georgia State

Thursday night Tennessee State and Georgia State squared off in the season opener for both teams. The game marked the first ever meeting between the two schools and the second straight season TSU has kicked off its season against a div-1 (FBS) opponent.

The contest also saw the debut of Georgia State Head Coach Shawn Elliott and the panthers were playing their first game in the recently renovated Georgia State Stadium that was the former home of the Atlanta Braves, Turner Field.

Spearheaded by former University of Florida, and now current Tennessee State QB Treon Harris, the tigers upset Georgia State 17-10. Harris threw for 145 yards and also ran for 91 yards and a touchdown. Running backs Seth Rowland and Sabree Curtis also chipped in with 76 and 73 yards respectively, as TSU ran for 238 yards on the ground.

The Panthers are off until September 16 when they travel to State College, PA to take on Penn State, while up next for the Tigers is Jackson State University in the Southern Heritage Classic September 9 in Memphis, TN.
