Grambling Lady Tigers hit the road to face UAPB and MVSU

GRAMBLING, La. | The Grambling State University women’s basketball team will look to get back into the win column as the Lady Tigers conclude their three-game road trip this weekend against Arkansas-Pine Bluff and Mississippi Valley State in a pair of Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) games.

Tip-off from H.O. Clemons Arena on Saturday against UAPB is set for 3 p.m., while the Monday tilt with the Devilettes is set for 5:30 p.m. from the Harrison HPER Complex.

Grambling State (12-14 overall, 9-5 SWAC), which currently sits tied for third with Alabama State in the SWAC standings with four games remaining in the regular season, has already punched its ticket to the 2019 SWAC Women’s Basketball Tournament. The Lady Tigers are coming off an 89-60 road loss to Jackson State on Feb. 23 and will be seeking a season sweep of Arkansas-Pine Bluff and a series split with Mississippi Valley State.

Arkansas-Pine Bluff (5-18, 2-13) will enter Saturday’s game riding a two-game losing streak. The Lady Lions dropped games to Texas Southern and Prairie View A&M. UAPB currently sits on the outside looking for a spot at the conference tournament.

Mississippi Valley State (4-22, 3-12) has lost its last six games, with its last win coming on Feb. 4 at Grambling State. The Devilettes will play host to Jackson State on Saturday, before Grambling State comes to town. Mississippi Valley State is currently tied for the eighth spot in the conference with Alcorn State as the Lady Braves hold the tiebreaker based on head-to-head results.
