Grambling Women’s Basketball to meet up with Jackson State this weekend

GRAMBLING, La. | The Grambling State University women’s basketball team will look to keep its win streak alive this weekend and avoid a season sweep of Jackson State in a Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) game.

Tip-off from Lee E. Williams Athletic and Assembly Center is set for 3 p.m.

Grambling State (12-13 overall, 9-4 SWAC), which currently sits in the second spot behind Southern, enters Saturday’s tilt on a three-game winning streak and is coming off a 73-57 victory over Prairie View A&M on Monday. GSU and Jackson State last played on Jan. 26, which JSU earning a 77-74 victory.

Jackson State (11-13, 7-6), which is sixth in the conference standings, has won six out of its last seven games, including a 73-64 victory on Monday against Texas Southern.

ABOUT JACKSON STATE

> Jackson State is averaging 68.5 points per game, while its opponents are averaging 67.2 points.

> JSU is shooting 43.2 percent from the field and 57.7 percent from the foul line.

> Marneisha Hamer paces the Jackson State offense at 15.8 points and 6.4 rebounds per game, followed by Christina Ellis at 13.0 points and 3.8 boards per game.
