Hawks HC interested in Knicks job

According to Marc Beaman of the New York Post, Mike Budenholzer, the Hawks’ head coach is reportedly “genuinely interested” in the New York Knicks’ open vacancy.

The source told Mr. Bergman , “New York’s his top choice. If they offered him the job, he’d say yes. He wants to live in New York.

“There’s a good chance Atlanta is not looking to win games the next two years,” the source told Berman. “This wasn’t Mike’s decision. He didn’t expect it. He doesn’t want to lose games.”

According to Mr. Bergman, Budenholzer has no desire to engage in a protracted rebuilding process, a path that the Hawks have seemingly embarked upon with personnel moves like letting Paul Millsap and Tim Hardaway Jr. walk in free agency and trading Dwight Howard.

If hired, the Knicks would be a team that is nearly on the cusp of competing for a playoff spot. They have an emerging star in Kristaps Porzingis , a complementary piece in Tim Hardaway Jr and an intriguing prospect in point guard Frank Ntilikina. This would certainly be preferable to the nearly bare cupboard present in Atlanta.
