Carlos Alocen has not traveled with the Spanish national team to Las Vegas as a precaution after learning he was in close contact with a person since testing positive for coronavirus, the Spanish Basketball Federation announced Thursday.

Alocen, 20, was not expected to make the final cut for the Olympic Games squad. However, head coach Sergio Scariolo wanted to test all remaining 14 players against the USA at Las Vegas on Sunday.

Spain is planning to travel from Las Vegas to Tokyo following the tune-up fixture in the United States. Barring another setback for the European powerhouse, the young point guard will not rejoin the national team.

Juancho Hernangomez has traveled with Spain to meet with the Minnesota Timberwolves medical staff. He was recently ruled out of the Olympic Gamesdue to a left shoulder injury he picked up in a prep game versus France.

Spain will square off with Argentina, Japan, and Slovenia in the preliminary round of the Olympics. The opener is against the hosts on July 26.
