It was complete domination on both sides of the ball from the moment the teams got off the bus to the final whistle as the Jackson State Tigers decimated the Bulldogs of Alabama A&M , 61-15.

It was the Tigers defense that got the scoring started when James Houston sacked and stripped A&M Aqeel Glass and the recovered the fumble at took it 67-yards to the house to put JSU up 7-0.

A&M’s next drive ended in a three-and-out and Jackson State playmaker Warren Newman took the subsequent punt and returned it 57 yards to the Bulldogs 32-yard line. Three plays later JD Martin punched it in from 3-yards out to put the Tigers up 14-0.

The Tiger offense keep it humming on their next drive, taking it 51-yards over 8 plays, culminating in a Shadeur Sanders 6-yard touch pass to Josh Lanier. The two-point conversion failed, leaving the score 20-0.

Aqeel Glass in the A&M offense finally got it in gear, going on a 9 play, 75-yard drive that culminated in a 10-yard touch pass from Glass to Zabrian Moore, that, with the extra point, brought the score to 20-7. Jackson State answered right back on their next drive, needing just 1:19 and three plays to travel 71 yards and reaching paydirt on Sanders’ second touchdown pass of the afternoon, a 37-yarder to Trevonte Rucker, lifting JSU to a 26-7 advantage.

Jackson State would tack on seven more points before halftime when Sanders connected on a 12-yard TD pass to Warren Newman to make the score a resounding 33-7 headed into the midgame break.

JSU got right to work in the third quarter, taking the second half kickoff and marching 80-yards in ten plays that ended with another Sanders touchdown pass, this one 20-yard to Malachi Wideman to make the score 40-7.

The Tigers kept their foot on the gas, finding the endzone once again on their very next when Sanders used his feet to scamper 29-yards to , with the successful PAT, put Jackson State up 47-7. The third quarter onslaught continued via a Santee Marshall 53-yard touchdown gallop to put JSU up 54-7 heading into the fourth quarter.

A Glass touchdown pass to Gary Quarles and subsequent two-point brought the score to 54-15. Mercifully for AAMU, Santee Marshall’s second touchdown run of the game, this one from 4-yards out, would end the scoring at 61-15.

The Jackson State offense racked up 496 yards of offense , but the Tigers defense made it tough on the Bulldogs offense, limiting them to a minuscule 8 yards. AAMU quarterback Aqeel Glass spent more time on the turf than the logos on the field, as the Jackson State set a program record for sacks with ten ( Aubrey Miller, Jr. (2.0), Justin Ragin (2.0), Nyles Gaddy (1.5) , James Houston (1.0), Daelyn Dunn (1.0), Coynis Miller (1.0) , Antwan Owens (1.0) ,Katron Evans (.5) ). The touchdown from Houston following the sack of Aqeel Glass was JSU’s first defensive touchdown of the season.
