Jeff Teague returns to Hawks via trade from Timberwolves.

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Atlanta Hawks have engaged in a trade.

The Hawks sent guard Allen Crabbe to Minnesota for point guard Jeff Teague and shooting guard Treveon Graham.

Teague, has started 13 of the 34 games he has appeared in this season for the Timberwolves, averaging 13.2 points, 6.1 assists and 2.6 rebounds. He was moved to a reserve role, as rookie Jarrett Culver has assumed the starting point guard duties. Teague will likely assume a similar role in Atlanta, where he spent the first seven season of his NBA career. He could also serve as a mentor to Trae Young and could also allow Young to play off the ball, when they are on the court together. If things do not work, his $19 million comes off the books after this season.

Allen Crabbe is averaging just 5.1 points and 2.3 rebounds this season, hi lowest production since the 2014-15 season, but he is an expiring contract, which could give the Wolves flexibility moving forward.
