Kawhi to the Raptors?

The ever-evolving saga of Kawhi Leonard and the San Antonio Spurs may have a yet a new and unexpected turn.

Now there appears to be a new contestant in the Quest for Kawhi- surprisingly the Toronto Raptors.

Reporting from the Washington Post’s Tim Bontemps indicated that the Raptors have emerged as a potential trade landing spot for Leonard.

From Bontemps;

The Toronto Raptors also generated buzz as a potential destination for Leonard. With LeBron James out of the Eastern Conference, perhaps Raptors President of Basketball Operations Masai Ujiri is willing to swing for the fences and move DeMar DeRozan or Kyle Lowry in such a deal.

After getting shown the door in the post season by a Lebron James-led team for the third consecutive year, team fired Coach of the Year Dwane Casey. There was also a Lowry duo had taken the ballclub as far as they could and that it may be time to dismantle the team. However with James now calling Los Angeles his home, there is now a void at the top of the Eastern Conference and trading for Kawhi could help them ascend to the top of that mountain. However the asking price for Leonard will be steep and likely even more so if Lowry is involved in any potential deal because he is a point guard on the wrong side of thirty with a $100 million contract and a spotty playoff performance record.
