Kermit Washington to serve six years in prison

The man who has been known for perhaps the most infamous punch in NBA history will spend the next six years in federal prison and pay $970,000 in restitution.

Kermit Washington, who played ten seasons in the NBA, plead guilty in November to falsifying a statement on a tax returns and aggravated identity theft. He used charity donations to finance vacations , shopping sprees and even cosmetic surgery for his girlfriend.

According to prosecutors on the case, Washington used his position as a National Basketball Players Association rep to refer players to attorney Ronald J. Mix, who then donated the funds, a sum of $155,000, to the Sixth Man Foundation.

In 2016, Mix entered a guilty plea for tax fraud for the illegal donation to Washington.

Washington admitted to using the aforementioned funds for personal expenses.
