Klay Thompson’s status uncertain for Game 3; Kevon Looney out for series

When Klay Thompson landed awkwardly from a jump shot and then left Sunday’s NBA Finals Game 2 with 7:59 left in the game, you could hear Warriors nation let out a collective “not again.” Injuries have become a common occurrence for the Warriors as of late with Kevin Durant getting hurt against the Rockets,   Andre Iguodala injuring his leg ( though he finished Game 1 and played in Game 2) and center Kevon Looney leaving earlier in Game 2 with a chest contusion.

Klay Thompson underwent an MRI Monday and it revealed a mild strain of his left hamstring. The All-Star guard is listed as questionable for Game 3.

Center Kevon Looney also underwent an MRI Monday. While Klay’s status is still somewhat up in the air, center Kevon Looney is out for the rest of the series with a non-displaced first costal cartilage fracture (right side). This is a more impactful loss for Golden State, as Looney had been playing well prior to his injury.
