Kyrie Irving will miss Timberwolves game due to eye injury

Earlier today the Boston Celtics announced that star point guard will miss the team’s game against the Minnesota Timberwolves due to irritation in his right eye.

Irving stuffed the injury when Marco Belinelli hit him in the eye Monday night in the Celtics’ 120-111 loss to the San Antonio Spurs.

ESPN’s Micheal C. Wright reports that Irving rocked sunglasses during his postgame media address following Monday night’s game and apparently it was not to be cool. At the time he provided an update on his condition and he had this to say: “I’m wearing sunglasses, so not too good. I’ll be all right, though. [He] smacked the s–t out of me. He just caught me pretty good.”

Irving said that he suffered a scratched left cornea, though the team called it a “left eye injury.”

Terry Rozier will likely slide into the starting lineup in Irving’s absence.
