Latest Nike Innovation Will Make Your Flyknits fit even better

Since their debut in 2012 , Flyknits sneakers have been, to say the least, quite popular (they are expected to produce $1 billion in revenue this year). The woven yarn and other fiber upper has been used on shoes from nearly every activity. Nike is working on a device to make your Flyknits shoes even more comfortable.

On September 22, the company filed a patent application for the apparatus, called the Portable Steaming System for Articles of Footwear, with the US Patent and Trademark Office. Per the company’s patent application the system was devised by one of their own developers, Bryan Farris, and as indicated by the name , makes use of steam. The shoes are placed in a black box, where they are steamed for approximately 30 seconds. The customer places the shoe on immediately after it is removed from the steam; the steam causes the Flyknit to shrink and thus offering a more snug fit, even to accommodate differences between your feet.

The patented device is reminiscent of one Nike unveiled back in 2013. It was available for a limited time in both the New York City and London flagship stores. The steaming service was available for free when a customer purchased a pair of Flyknits.
