Livingstone student-athletes volunteered at local elementary school

SALISBURY – Livingstone College Student Athletic Advisory Committee (SAAC) members and their teammates volunteered at Overton Elementary School for their annual Jump rope Club Lock-In.

Each year, LC student-athletes participate with the elementary students to play games, help out by serving dinner and promote goals of physical, social and character development of the students.

Each year Overton Elementary School and Livingstone have practices throughout the entire school year.  As the event continued to grow in attendance, more hands were needed to help it run smoothly.  Connecting with the Livingstone Student-Athlete Advisory Committee was a seamless partnership.

“As student-athletes, they are required to have so many community service and volunteer hours in a year”, said Jaime Kent advisor to the SAAC.

SAAC works throughout the year to provide volunteer opportunities for student athletes. In November, they adopted families for Thanksgiving, along with the help of the Rowan County Social Services department, to donate Thanksgiving meal.
