Making Kicks Count: Missouri children get free kicks for Angels of the Hardwood

Earlier this month, Yander Law Basketball, The Basketball Movement, and the Pat Jones Family YMCA joined forces to host Angels of the Hardwood , a free event whose goal is , according to Yander Law’s website, “to make a difference in the lives of children and let them know that people care.

At the event, over 100 pairs of sneakers were given away to local children.

Event co-organizer Rob Yanders said, “It is all about giving back to our youth in our community. It is about making people really feel good about themselves.”

The children also got a new basketball and t-shirt, then they got on the court.

We are here to do an open clinic with our Yanders Law players that are local here in the community,” Jennifer Yanders, co-organizer, said. “They are here to just have fun, enjoy basketball and enjoy it in a positive atmosphere.”

Halston Adams, the Executive Director of the Pat Jones Family YMCA had this to say about Angels of the Hardwood:

To be able to get this type of training and just one-on-one attention from folks that have the background, it is just an amazing opportunity.

The Yanders have already started planning another event for next year.
