Manu Ginobili is trying to decide if he will hang up his sneakers or return for his 17th season and he has an upcoming meeting with coach Gregg Popovich to discuss his future.
According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, Ginobili is “seriously considering” retirement but has not decided yet.
He had this to say to reporters after the Spurs were eliminated by the eventual champion Golden State Warriors in regards to his career:
I’ve been contemplating retirement forever. Nothing changed. I’ll let a month or two months go by, and then I’ll see how I feel. I’m not the type of guy that makes decisions on the fly, or when you’re upset or hurt or whatever. I usually let it sink in and see how it feels.”
The 41-year old was taken by San Antonio in the second round of the 1999 NBA draft and has played for the Spurs for his entire career.
The four-time champion, two-time All-Star and one-time Sixth Man of the year is the last remaining member of the Spurs’ “Big Three”, with Tim Duncan retired following the 2015-16 season and Tony Parker signing with the Charlotte Hornets last month.
