New Balance and Kawhi Leonard dangle sneaker debut

In November, we covered Toronto Raptors small forward Kawhi Leonard had reached an multiyear endorsement deal with New Balance . Leonard’s sneaker options were wide open after he rejected a 4-year, $22 million dollar extension on his, at the time, deal with Jordan Brand.

In that interim, Leonard has been seen rocking New Balance gear walking into the arenas, but he has still been wearing the Air Jordan 32 on the hardwood in lieu of a shoe from New Balance.

It appears that time may be drawing nigh.

Earlier today on their @nbhoops Twitter account, New Balance dropped a teaser for its upcoming basketball shoe that featured Leonard. The video, which is 40 seconds in length, uses Kawhi’s reserved demeanor for its theme “Kawhi doesn’t need your attention. He already has it, referring to his elite play on the court. The video also takes some not-so-subtle jabs at certain players around the league (we’ll see if you can figure out who).

The tweet also states the new sneaker will be unveiled during NBA All-Star weekend.

No images are available, as of yet, but we will have them, and other details surrounding this shoe,as they become available.
