Nike releases statement on Zion Williamson sneaker malfunction and injury

When Zion Williamson literally came out his shoe and went down 33 seconds into the highly anticipated Duke/North Carolina game, a collective breath was held by the Duke fatihtful, several NBA teams ( and a certain Oregon-based athletic company). Thankfully , for two of those groups, it appears there is no structural damage to the knee and it was just a sprain.

In lieu of the one of the most public wardrobe malfunctions since the Super Bowl XXXVIII, the Action Network’s Darren Rovell has reported that Nike has released a statement addressing the issue:

We are obviously concerned and want to wish Zion a speedy recovery,” Nike said. “The quality and performance of our products are of utmost importance. While this is an isolated occurrence, we are working to identify the issue

Nike has some work to do smooth this over. The company’s stock prices showed a one percent slip in early trading and this comes as the unintentional tear away jersey fiascos of 2017 were starting to fade from memory.
