NORFOLK, Va. – Norfolk State senior quarterback Juwan Carter was named HBCU National Player of the Week by BOXTOROW, the organization announced.

Carter completed 23 of 30 passes for 353 yards and five touchdowns in three quarters of work last week against Elizabeth City State. The five TD passes tie Maurice Selby’s 1998 performance against Morgan State for most passing TDs in a game in the school’s Division I history.

Carter was also named MEAC Offensive Player of the Week for the second straight week on Monday. He has a MEAC-high eight touchdown passes and is second in the conference with 676 passing yards through three games.

The Spartans are back on the road this week to face St. Francis (Pa.) at noon on Saturday.
