Ricky Rubio back with team after previously testing positive for COVID-19

Phoenix Suns point guard Ricky Rubin’s arrival in Orlando was delayed because of an earlier positive COVID-19 test.

Rubio joined the team this week and practiced Tuesday but it is unclear if he will run in the team’s scrimmage on Thursday.

“I just had two practices so I have to talk with strength coach, [Suns coach Monty Williams] and the whole team. I feel good but we have to be smart about it. It’s a preseason game. We have to figure out a plan that’s day by day. We can’t plan ahead like other times. We didn’t know when I was going to come so we have to play it day by day.”

According to Andrew Lopez of ESPN, the Suns are already without guards Elle Okobo and Jalen Lecque, who are both away from team due to “personal reasons.”

Rubio said he is feeling well and is working his back saying this:

“I’m good. I don’t have symptoms. Now that I’m back playing, after being out for three or four months, your legs feel it, your lungs feel it. That’s something I have to work on and figure out how to give my best to the team and focus on my health too.”

On the season he was averaging 13.1 points, 8.9 assists, 4.6 rebounds and 1.5 steals per contest while shooting a career-mark 35.1% from downtown.
