Russell Westbrook (rest) out against Timberwolves

As I said in one of our previous NBA articles, I set my expectations for the early part of this season as rather low. Expanding furthers on that point was not only that I anticipated a lower quality level of play due to the truncated off and preseason but also to not be surprised if several prominent players do not take the court for more than 60 or so games. We have already seen Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving sit out games for rest and it looks like Russell Westbrook will be held out of the team’s Friday night game against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

This is not an earth-shattering development; the Wizards announced at the start of the season that their intent was to rest him in back-to-backs.

The Rockets, whom Westbrook ran with last season, emplored a similar strategy with Westbrook.

Though Washington is 0-4, Russell Westbrook is averaging a triple-double through the team’s first four games, posting 19.8 points, 12.8 rebounds and 12.3 assists in 37.3 minutes per contest.
