Robert Morris 22, Howard 16

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – Despite outscoring Robert Morris in the second half, the Howard Bison could not overcome a first half deficit and fell 22-16 to the Colonials at Joe Walton Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Howard (0-4) trailed 14-7 at halftime, but got within one point (14-13) after a four-yard touchdown run by quarterback Quinton Williams with 4:30 left in the third quarter.

A field goal by Faraji Wilson at the 9:04 mark in the fourth quarter put Howard up 16-14, but Robert Morris (1-1) answered with a touchdown and two-point conversion with 3:01 left to seal the win.

Norfolk State 28, Saint Francis (Pa.) 16

LORETTO, Pa. – Senior quarterback Juwan Carter accounted for three touchdowns, all in the second half, and Norfolk State ran for 323 yards in a 28-16 non-conference win over St. Francis (Pa.) at DeGol Field on Saturday afternoon.

Trailing 10-7 at the half, the Spartans (2-2) outscored the Red Flash (1-3) 21-6 in the second half to win their second straight game. Carter rushed for one touchdown and passed for two more in the second half in the teams’ first-ever meeting.

Carter scored on a 4-yard run and tossed a 7-yard TD pass to Justin Smith as NSU outscored the Red Flash 14-0 in the third stanza. St. Francis drew within 21-16 on a short fourth-down TD pass with just more than five minutes left in the fourth, but the Spartans iced the game away with a long scoring drive that ended with Carter’s 25-yard TD pass to tight end Anthony Williams with 39 seconds left.

J.J. Davis ran 14 times for 93 yards to lead NSU’s balanced ground game. The Spartans had five running backs carry the ball plus Carter on the day, and amassed 211 of their rushing yards after halftime. Cameryn Brent added 14 rushes for a career-high 70 yards while Carter ran for 72 yards on 10 attempts and also passed for 99 yards and two scores. Smith caught six passes in the win.

Christian Ruffin and Tyler Long both finished with nine tackles apiece for the NSU defense, which yielded just six points after the first quarter. SFU had just 93 total yards in the second half. NSU also forced two turnovers on the day, on Coles’ recovered fumble in the first quarter and a third-quarter interception by Stuart Anderson Jr.

Merrimack College 47, Delaware State 10

Dover, Del. – Westin Elliott completed 21 of 23 passes for 336 yards and six touchdowns to lead Merrimack to a 47-10 over Delaware State at Alumni Stadium today.

The Warriors won for the third time in four games, while the Hornets dropped their third straight to fall to 1-3 this season.

Delaware State scored first after taking advantage of a special teams mishap by the visitors in the first quarter. The Hornets obtained the ball at the Merrimack seven after a bad punt snap by the Warriors.

Delaware State was outgained 423 to 182 in the contest. The Hornets rushed for 138 yards, but were held to a season-low 44 yards passing. DSU’s Sy’veon Wilkerson led all players with 55 yards rushing on 17 carries.

North Carolina A&T State 37, North Carolina Central 14

GREENSBORO, N.C. – North Carolina Central fell 37-14 to North Carolina A&T on Saturday night at Truist Stadium.

The Eagles dropped to 2-2 on the season, while the Aggies improved to 1-2.

Quarterback Davius Richard was 21-of-35 for 225 yards with one touchdown. On the ground, he rushed 43 yards on seven attempts.Recap | Box Score
