SIAC Football Week 6 Honors

ATLANTA, Ga. (October 8, 2018)Tracy Scott (Albany State) was named Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Football Offensive Player of the Week, while Antonio Johnson (Morehouse)earned Defensive Player of the Week, released by the league office on Monday.

Michael Nero (Kentucky State) was also tabbed Special Teams Player of the Week alongside Voris Bryant (Fort Valley State) who earned Newcomer of the Week.

OFFENSIVE – Tracy Scott, Albany State

Tracy Scott responded for the Rams, taking the first snap of the next possession 75 yards for a score and a ASU a 13-7 advantage with six minutes left in the opening quarter. Scott had a phenomenal performance as he posted his season high 190 rushing yards and two touchdowns lifting the Golden Rams to a 35-21 feat over Catawba College.

DEFENSIVE – Antonio Johnson, Morehouse
Linebacker  |  6’3  |  235  |  Birmingham, Ala.

Senior defensive end Antonio Johnson (Birmingham, AL) caused havoc all day long as he anchored a Morehouse defense that made key stops in the thrilling 30-24 triple overtime victory over Tuskegee University helping MHC remain undefeated. Johnson finished with six (6) tackles, three (3) sacks, five (5) quarterback hurries, and three tackles for loss in the win.

SPECIAL TEAMS – Michael Nero, Kentucky State
Runnnig Back  |  5’10  |  180  |  Louisville, KY

Nero racked up 353 all-purpose yards for the Thorobreds this past weekend against West Virginia State University. The Louisville, KY native registered a 100-yard kickoff return for a touchdown and a 70-yard punt return for a touchdown while adding 103 yards rushing for Kentucky State.

NEWCOMER – Voris Bryant, Fort Valley State
Defensive Lineman  |  6’2  |  210  |  Gray, Ga.

Bryant recorded a season-high 9 tackles this past weekend against Clark Atlanta University. Bryant, a graduate student at Fort Valley State, recorded 2 sacks for 12 yards and 3 tackles for a loss of 17 yards. The Gray, Ga. native also forced a fumble for the Wildcats in front of their home crowd.
