SIAC Week 4 Players of the Week

ATLANTA, Ga. (September 24, 2018)Terraris Saffold (Central State) was named Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Football Offensive Player of the Week, while De’Micheal McQueen (Lane) earned Defensive Player of the Week, released by the league office on Monday.

Turner Warren (Kentucky State) was also tabbed Special Teams Player of the Week alongside William Callaway (Morehouse) who earned Newcomer of the Week.

OFFENSIVE – Terraris Saffold, Central State
Running back  |  6’0  |  180  |  Hayneville, Ala.

Saffold put together his best overall game as a Marauder in Saturday’s 24-6 win over rival Kentucky State. The 6’0 senior recorded career highs in carries (27), rushing yards (134), receptions (5), and receiving yards (80). Saffold became the first CSU player to record 100+ rushing yards in a single game in over 10 seasons.

DEFENSIVE – De’Micheal McQueen, Lane
Linebacker  |  5’11  |  215  |  Milton, Florida

McQueen led the Dragon defensive unit that allowed 157 total offense in the 14-7 loss to Albany State. McQueen ended the day with 2.5 sacks for a loss of 26 yards, 5.5 tackles for a loss of 32 yards, and 18 total tackles for the Dragons.

SPECIAL TEAMS – Turner Warren, Kentucky State

Warren, a senior from Louisville, Kentucky, made seven punts for the Thorobreds this past weekend averaging 42.7 yards per boot with his longest being 50 accounting for a total of 299 yards against the Marauders.

NEWCOMER – William Callaway, Morehouse
Defensive end  |  6’5  |  240  |  Scottsdale, Ga.

The Sophomore defensive end transfer from Presbyterian College led the push up-front in the stunning victory over SIAC foe Miles College as he finished with four tackles (3 solo) one sack for 17 yards, two tackles-for-loss, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and one quarterback hurry on a defense that only allowed 252 yards of total offense.
